Rural and Remote applications for the Green Revolutions™ Windmill

(US Patent # 5,823,749)

  • The Green Revolutions™ Windmill can be configured for numerous applications as described on the previous page. Below you will see some examples of different tower arrangements and transmission systems suitable for larger applications.

  • Because of the vertical axis and omni-directional properties of this design, appliances can be attached with amazing simplicity. One can choose the form of output such as rotary, reciprocal, straight line, or oscillating with nearly equal facility.

  • Below are thumbnail photos of three examples of tower arrangements and their means of transmission. Double click on the thumbnails for a full size picture. Click on your browsers Back button to return to this page.

Fig. 1    shows a windmill in which the tower turns with the rotor. An output pulley at the base delivers rotary power directly to the air compressor at ground level. The bottom bearing rests in gimbals supported by two stakes driven into the ground. The windmill can be raised or lowered by one person in less than a minute. This model has a 15' rotor and weighs approximately 75 lbs. including the tower. It is portable and is sometimes used for remote drainage, irrigation, and aeration.

Fig. 2    shows a pond aeration system. Three piston pumps provide a continuous flow of air to an air stone in the pond. The entire windmill pump system weighs less than 20 lbs. The tower is thirty five feet high.

Fig. 3    shows another configuration whereby the power shaft from the rotor runs through the center of a stationary tower column. The output is at the base as in the previous example.

Fig. 4    shows two views of a pivoting A-frame type tower operating a double diaphragm air pump located at the top of the tower.

Many transmission systems and tower arrangements can be easily adapted to this design, all of them lightweight, non-vibrating, simple to erect, and aesthetically pleasing.
